Adoption:
This service includes finding homes for children listed on the Minnesota Waiting Children,
conducting adoptive home studies, placement and post placement services.
Licensing:
License family Daycare Providers and Foster Care Providers to assure compliance with state
and federal regulations.
Foster Care:
Social Workers arrange for care of children who are in need of temporary or longer term
foster care in a family setting.
Elderly Services:
Along with Public Health Services, Social Workers screen all applicants before nursing
home admissions. A Social Worker will also offer alternatives to nursing home care if
the services meeting the needs of the client. These services might include Home Health
Care, Homemaker, Home Delivered Meals, Personal Care Attendants, etc. Referrals will
be made for these services.
Child Protection:
An entry point for reports of abuse and neglect of Adults and Children.
Vulnerable Adults:
Provide adult protection services. Vulnerable Adult reports are reported to Pipestone
County Sheriff’s Department.
Chemical Dependency:
Evaluation, intervention and help for persons and their families with alcohol and drug
problems. Also conduct pre-petition screenings for possible commitment.
Developmental Disabilities:
Help find and coordinate services for persons and their families with developmental
disabilities. Also includes services directed toward the support of the family
involved. Services included are assessments, day treatment and habilitation, residential
living, and home and community based services.
Mental Health:
Assistance for adults or children experiencing difficulties with their emotional or mental health.
Includes support, treatment of adults who have been or may be diagnosed as having mental illness
and children who have been or may be diagnosed as having emotional disturbances. Helps coordinate
services such as counseling, group therapy, and assisted living services. Also conduct
pre-petition screenings for possible commitment.
Fees for Social Services may be charged based on income and eligibility.

Income Maintenance:
Cash, Medical, Food Stamps and Child Care Assistance are available to applicants who meet income,
asset, and other eligibility requirements.

Child Support Services include:

A one time $25 is required for families not receiving public assistance.
